FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-
Rosina Machu will be running in the finals of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the third straight year, qualifying for the finals in the 10k after a great run at the NCAA West Regional Semifinals.
Machu ran a season best time of 32:29.47, fighting through a difficult peloton of forty eight other runners to finish seventh overall and advance to Eugene for the finals. The crowded field made it difficult to get position, with Machu having to contend with limited space and several other athletes competing for the inside line on every turn around the track in Fayetteville.
"I knew I was going to have to be in it from the go, and if there's a move in the pack I had to be connected to it" said Machu, "I am so excited to be going back to Eugene again, with this race being really competitive it showed what it's going to be like in two weeks. It goes to show how you really have to be all-in from the get go".
Machu set the program record in the 10,000 meters at Eugene last year when she finished seventh in the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track National Championship with a time of 32:15.49.
Four other Zags had strong showings in the competitive distance field, as
Logan Hofstee ran a time of 33:14.21 to finish just outside of the cut line for the finals with a seventeenth overall place.
Charlotte Dillon concluded a strong freshman season with a twenty fifth place finish in 34:06.15. Dillon had the sixth highest finish of all freshman in the West.
Anna Grabowski concluded her senior season with a 35:07.93 time to finish in fortieth place.
Logan Schwartz took forty fifth overall in the men's 10k field, clocking a time of 30:25.76. Schwartz is just the second freshman in Gonzaga men's track history to run in the NCAA West Regionals.
Gonzaga Track will compete in two more days of the NCAA West Regional Championship, with the Men's Steeplechase and 5k taking place at 3:40 and 6:40 pacific time on Friday, while Machu and Hofstee will return to the track for the women's 5k semifinal at 6:10pm on Saturday.
