SPOKANE, Wash. – The Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) announced its 2026 Empacher-IRCA Scholar Athletes, with 11 members of the Gonzaga men's rowing program earning recognition for their excellence in both the classroom and competition.
The Empacher-IRCA Scholar Athlete award recognizes student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding achievement academically and athletically. To earn the honor, student-athletes must be in at least their second year of eligibility, compete in one of their program's top three boats during the season, and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 through the fall semester.
A total of 676 rowers and coxswains from 55 teams across 48 IRCA member programs earned Scholar Athlete recognition in 2026. The honorees posted an average GPA of 3.76.
