
Zag Alum James Mwaura to compete at U.S. Track Championship

NEW YORK CITY- Gonzaga Running alum James Mwaura will compete in the United States Outdoor Track National Championship in the 10k on Thursday.
Mwaura, a 2023 graduate from Gonzaga, holds the school record in the outdoor 10,000 meters, running a time of 27:50.44 in the 2021 NCAA Championships. Mwaura also holds the program record in the outdoor 5,000 meters.
Mwaura currently competes on the professional stage for the Boston Athletic Association, the organization responsible for organizing the storied Boston Marathon. He finished in 5th place in the 10,000 meters at last year's U.S. Outdoor Track National Championship. Mwaura has the fourth fastest seeded time in the field based on submitted times from this season. He finished ahead of the current top seed, U.S. Olympian Woody Kinkaid, in last year's running of the 10k championship.
The race will start at 5:58 pacific time (8:58 eastern time) on Thursday and will be available to stream on USATF.tv.
