Yoo finishes eight-over in 23rd place
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's golf started the 2026-27 season at the Leadership and Golf Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course.
The Bulldogs placed 16th in the tournament at 55-over (919). GU had a 299 (+11) team total in the second round.
Esther Yoo led the Zags with an eight-over (224) finish. She tied for 23rd. The senior's 72 (E) in the second round was the team's lowest round in the event. Yoo made two birdies and 14 pars in Round 2.
Brenna Preap and Islay Benoit tied for 64th and 67th, respectively. Preap finished 15-over (231), while Benoit was 19-over (235). Vanessa Zhang (+21, 237) and Mariko Yonemura (+24, 240) tied for 81st and placed 84th, respectively.
Savannah de Bock led Eastern Michigan to the team title after her medalist finish. She was seven-under (209), just ahead of Colorado's Maya McVey's six-under (210) finish. EMU's Baiyok Sukterm was third at five-under (211).
Eastern Michigan was the lone team in the field that finished under-par, totaling 863 (-1) in the tournament. Colorado was second at six-over (870) and Tulsa was third at seven-over (871).
Gonzaga returns to Spokane for its next event, the Kalispel Invitational, Sept. 21-22. The tournament, hosted by Eastern Washington, is at the Kalispel Country Club. Live scoring will be available on GoZags.com.
