The West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year appeared in all 37 games for the Zags and started 29...registered 999 minutes played and averaged 37 minutes per game in the NCAA Tournament...averaged 12.7 points per game...earned his first collegiate double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds, both career-bests, against Ohio State in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament...dished out a season-best 8 assists against Santa Clara...collected 5 steals against North Dakota...made 45.6% of his shots from the field, 37.0% from behind the arc and 80% from the free throw line...earned WCC Player of the Week honors once.

Came to Gonzaga from a basketball-rich high school in Chicago, Simeon Career Academy, which has graduated players like Derrick Rose and Jabari Parker in recent years ... the No. 76-ranked recruit nationally by ESPN Top 100 wowed onlookers at an AAU game in Las Vegas in which he put up 53 points, including 14 three-pointers with 11 in the first half ...averaged 13 points, four rebounds and three assists during his junior season for Simeon, which went 27-3 and won its Section Final before falling just two games shy of the state championship ... named a Chicago Tribune All-State special mention ... averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists his senior season, leading Simeon to a 30-4 record, placing third in Illinois 4A, while playing a national schedule … Norvell chose Gonzaga over Florida State, Georgetown and Iowa State.
