SPOKANE, Wash. -- Gonzaga Athletics announced today a major gift from Katerra Inc. to the recently completed videoboard project inside the McCarthey Athletic Center.

"We want to thank Katerra for their generosity in working with us on these major improvements to the McCarthey Athletic Center," Director of Athletics Mike Roth said. "Katerra is fantastic company with great leadership, and we are proud to partner with them on these enhancements as we strive to deliver first-class events at our venues."

With Katerra's partnership on this project, the new four-sided centerhung videoboard system inside the arena is adorned on each side by a Katerra sign that the company manufactured out of cross-laminated timber (CLT) specifically for this project. CLT is a flat panel engineered wood product that complements glulam elements. The two elements combine together as columns, beams, walls, and floors, to form a mass timber construction system. Katerra's mass timber manufacturing facility is currently under construction in Spokane Valley, Washington.

The project replaced endwall videoboards with upgraded and larger screens, while adding a four-sided centerhung, lower ring and new sound system. The new boards, funded entirely through the generous benefaction of Gonzaga Athletics donors, will increase fan engagement and overall game atmosphere.
