Head coach Andrew Derrick announced the addition of Julia Camillucci to his staff going into the Fall 2024 season. "I am excited to welcome Julia," Derrick said. "We had a great candidate pool, but her excitement over the trajectory of our program was clear from our first interactions. I know our student-athletes will love working with her, and she will impart that energy onto them and into their training. She is a great fit for this role, and we are all looking forward to working with her as she brings her strengths and experience to being a Zag!"
Camillucci was a student-athlete at San Diego State and University of San Diego prior to working at the Texas Rowing Center. During her time as a rower, she was a graduate assistant for Jenny Bramer, the Deputy Athletic Director, People & Culture / Senior Woman Administrator and the Internal affairs officer for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. During her time at USD, she completed her master's in leadership studies.
During her time as a student-athlete at SDSU and USD, she was a 2019 Olympic Development Camp attendee, 2020 U23 National Team Selection camp attendee and a WCC and AAC All-Academic Team along with a CRCA Scholar-Athlete. After college she spent time training at the Oklahoma City National High-Performance Center as an athlete.
At Texas Rowing Center, she was the Head Juniors Novice Coach and she was an assistant coach for the advanced master's women, competing and coaching at the 2023 Masters Nationals which lead to them winning the Women’s team points and Club Team points.
Camillucci grew up in Auburn, Ca and attended Placer High School, where she was a 3 sport all league athlete in volleyball, basketball, and track. She was awarded the 2017 Foothill Valley League Scholar Athlete of the year.
"From the start, I could tell Gonzaga Athletics is a people first athletic department and I can wait to be a part of an environment that not only produces high level athletes, but even higher-level people," Camillucci said. "I can wait to be part of the Gonzaga family and do what I can to support in any way!"
