Katherine Stenning
- Title:
- Graduate Assistant
Katherine “Kat” Stenning Joins the Zag Coaching ranks after spending the 2023-24 campaign as a student athlete for Gonzaga.
“We were very fortunate to have Kat in boats last year as she was a huge contributor to a phenomenal 2024 season, but I am also really looking forward to working with her on the coaching side of things this season. She is an incredibly intelligent and hard worker that will continue to be a huge asset to our program!" head coach Andrew Derrick said.
Stenning spent time in both the I and II Eight throughout her time on the team and brought a wealth of experience, small boat skills, and ultimately boat speed with her to the Zag program. Kat finished her rowing career by contributing to winning the 2024 WCC Championship and qualifying for and tying Gonzaga’s second highest finish at the NCAA Championship.
Originally from Woking, UK, Kat brings a unique perspective to her role, which she will use to assist with international recruiting and finding the next class of Zags. Outside of her coaching duties, she is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Sport and Athletic Administration at Gonzaga University
Kat began her collegiate rowing career at The University of Tulsa, where she graduated in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies and double minors in Psychology and Sports Management. During her time at Tulsa, she was a three-time Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete and was named to the 2023 Academic All-District At-Large Team. After transferring to Gonzaga University for her final year of eligibility, she was again named a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete for the fourth time in her career.
Outside of rowing, Kat has a keen interest in motorsports and cycling. She also plans to continue her education after earning her master's degree to research women in sports, reflecting her dedication to advancing the field and supporting female athletes in all disciplines.
