2024 WCC ROWER OF THE YEAR

2023-24 (Fall): 
7 seat of the varsity 8+ that took first place over Washington State and Oregon State at the Head of the Spokane. Stroke seat of the varsity 2- that placed second with a finishing time of 20:41. 2023-24 (Spring): 4 seat for the Varsity 8+ that finished second against Minnesota with a time of 6:39.52… 6 seat for the 1V8 that took first place in two races against Saint Mary’s, with times of 6:31.13 and 7:06.89… 6 seat for the 1V8 that won three races at the Lake Natoma Invite, with times of 6:29.30, 6:48.70, and 6:38.10… 6 seat for the 1V8 that took second against WSU with a time of 6:37.28… 4 seat for the 1V8 that took first place over five other boats at the Dexter Lake Invite with a time of 6:29.50… 4 seat for the 1V8 that won the WCC Championships with a time of 6:38.800… Named the WCC Rower of the Year… Named to the All-WCC Team… 4 seat for the 1V8 that placed 17th overall at the NCAA Championships, finishing with a time of 6:36.761 in the C Final…

2022-23: Performing throughout the season with the Varsity 8 team, was named to the All-WCC First Team after her excellent junior season… Helped the squad pick up first-place victories at the Head of the Spokane, with a time of 17:04, against Oklahoma, with a time of 6:44.99, at the Triton Invitational, with a time of 6:42.7, and at the WCC Championship, with an impressive time of 6:38.492… Additionally, also earned a pair of second-place finishes at the Head of the Lake, with a finishing time of 18:11.208, and against Washington State, with a time of 6:37.89, along with a third-place at the Oregon State Invitational, with concluding time of 6:56.39… Ended the year with multiple top-five finishes in the Varsity 8 team’s heats at the NCAA Championships, including a first-place finish in the final heat, ending with a time of 6:42.849…

2021-2022 (Fall): Raced in Varsity 8 that finished 4th of 10 in Collegiate 8+ at the Head of the Oklahoma ... Won the Collegiate 4+ out of 22 entries at the Head of the Oklahoma, defeating top boats from Alabama, Oklahoma, Tulsa, and Kansas ... In V8 that took 3rd of 12 at the Head of the Spokane, behind OSU & WSU 1v8 ... Took 9th in 2-s race at the Head of the Spokane, beating crews from both OSU and WSU ... Rowed in GU’s 1v in Championship 8+ at the Head of the Lake, taking 3rd overall, losing only to the University of Washington (Spring): Performed in the No.5 position of the Varsity 8 team, where she helped Gonzaga earn third place with a time of 11:38.788 at the Head of the Lake… Has since aided in multiple top-three finishes with the Varsity 8 team, including first-place finishes at the PLU Invitational and against Minnesota...Was part of the crew that swept the WCC Championships and went on to compete in the NCAA Championships...Named CRCA Scholar Athlete 

2020-2021: Part of 2V boat that swept all 3 races at GU Invitational against U. Portland, Seattle U and Pacific Lutheran ... In V8 that won the 2021 WCC Championships ... WCC Newcomer of the Year- Hannah Cooney .... Finished top 20 at the 2021 NCAA National Championships ... In V8 that placed 19th at the 2021 NCAA Championships ... Named to Gonzaga President's List, Dean's List

PERSONAL: Pursuing a psychology degree at Gonzaga… Was on honor roll and dean’s list while in high school… Participated in swimming throughout high school, including earning 2nd at the Oregon State Championship for the 500m freestyle… Daughter of Suzanne and Joe Cooney, and sister of Claire Cooney
