Kurt Bambauer enters his sixth season with the Gonzaga men's basketball program in 2026-27 and serves as the Bulldogs' General Manager, overseeing key aspects of the program's roster management, recruiting and day-to-day basketball operations.
Bambauer originally joined the Gonzaga program as a student manager and graduated from the university in 2017. Following graduation, he spent four seasons on the Vanderbilt men's basketball staff in the Southeastern Conference, beginning as a graduate manager before moving into the role of assistant video coordinator prior to the 2019-20 season.
Bambauer returned to Gonzaga ahead of the 2021-22 season and has been an integral part of the Bulldogs' continued success. During his time back in Spokane, Gonzaga has won five West Coast Conference regular-season championships, four WCC Tournament titles and five NCAA Tournament berths, while advancing to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament multiple times.
In 2025-26, Bambauer helped Gonzaga to a 31-4 record, the WCC regular-season and tournament championships and a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs defeated Kennesaw State in the first round before falling to Texas in the second round and finished the season ranked No. 18 in the final Associated Press poll.
Bambauer's responsibilities have included supporting Gonzaga's recruiting and roster-management efforts, coordinating basketball operations and working across the program's administrative, video and scouting functions. His experience on both the Gonzaga and Vanderbilt staffs has given him a broad understanding of the operational demands of a high-level college basketball program.
Before returning to Gonzaga, Bambauer spent four seasons at Vanderbilt, where he served two seasons as a graduate manager and two seasons as an assistant video coordinator. His responsibilities with the Commodores included overseeing managers and graduate managers, recruiting graphics, video and scouting, equipment, academics, player behavior, recruiting databases, branding and marketing and on-campus recruiting.
