PORTLAND - Three Gonzaga players finished with double-figure kills but the Bulldogs could not capitalize as host Portland (15-14, 4-10 WCC) defeated Gonzaga in four games. The Pilots won 30-20, 19-30, 31-29, 35-33. Gonzaga ended its first season under head coach Kip Yoshimura at 4-24, 2-12 in the West Coast Conference.
Christina Davis and Abby Cullen each finished with 16 kills for the Bulldogs as they were slow getting out the blocks during the game one loss. Gonzaga's offense did start clicking the final three games but the Bulldogs could only salvage the game two victory despite forcing Portland to extra points in games three and four.
Heather Denison led all players with 17 kills as the Pilots finished with a .202 attack percentage. Portland connected over the .200 mark clip in each one of their game victories. Carlie Price, the WCC's leader in digs, finished with a match-high 24. Lauren Kaarpstein added 13 kills in the win.
Natasha Kozen finished with a double-double for the Zags as she had 14 kills and 12 digs. Heather Signor finished with 17 digs to fall five short of cracking the Gonzaga single-season Top 10 for digs. Cullen added four block assists during the loss.
