Bulldog Women Drop WCC Game To LMU 63-49

LOS ANGELES - The Loyola Marymount Lions (14-10, 6-5) defeated the Gonzaga University Bulldogs 63-49 (11-14, 2-9) Thursday night at Gersten Pavilion in Los Angeles, Calif.
The Bulldogs continue to struggle in West Coast Conference play as they dropped their second straight WCC game.
Jessica Malone put the Zags on the board first with two good free throws, Gonzaga continued to lead for the first seven minutes as the Loyola Marymount tied the game twice before taking their first lead at 12:57 with a fastbreak from Bryn Britton. The Bulldogs quickly answered as the two teams tied seven more times before the Lions left for the locker room with a 34-29 half time advantage.
The Bulldogs would never recover in the second half as the Lions would pull away by as many as fourteen points.
Adrianne Slaughter sparked a 8-0 point run with 10:16 remaining to secure the Lions 63-49 victory.
The game was tied nine times as the Bulldogs and the Lions traded leads six times.
The Bulldogs were led by Ashley Burke with 16 points as Jessica Malone chipped in 10 points. The Zags shot 33.3 percent from the field, 4.8 percent from 3-point range and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.
The Bulldogs play their final regular season road game against Pepperdine Saturday at 5 p.m
