Host Montana State Downs Volleyball 3-0

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Montana State (5-1) combined for a .286 team attack percentage including a .357 clip in the final game as the host Bobcats defeated Gonzaga (0-5) in three games during opening night action at the Holiday Inn Classic. MSU won the contest 30-26, 30-22 and 30-14.
Junior middle blocker Abby Cullen kept the Zags in contention early on as she finished with a match high 14 kills during 34 attack attempts. Mary Finnerty finished second on the squad with eight kills as first-year head coach Kip Yoshimura continues to look for a winning combination to put on the floor.
Meggie Malyurek led Montana State with 12 kills as the Bobcats tallied 26 team blocks compared to just 7 for Gonzaga. Kamber Kelly and Ana Schanze each had eight total blocks with Schanze accounting for three solo blocks. Cullen was GU's top blocker with four blocks.
Gonzaga was limited to just a .083 attack percentage as they opened the season 0-5 for the only the second time in the Division I history of the program. The Bulldogs will face Florida Atlantic and Eastern Michigan in Saturday action at the tournament.
