Women's Tennis Struggles First Day of California Swing

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team kicked off their spring schedule Saturday afternoon at University of California - Santa Barbara. The Zags struggled in their first effort dropping all of their matches.
Kendall Bates had a strong second set against Marielle Gruenig going 6-4 after she lost the first set 6-1.
The Gonzaga Doubles team of Aaryn Volkmann and Tanita Bird fought Butterwick and Jennifer Kuhle to a final 8-5 deicison in No. 3 doubles action.
The Bulldogs continue their three-match California swing Sunday against Cal Poly in Malibu, Calif., at 11 a.m.
