ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The Gonzaga University women's soccer team goes back on the road for to continue its four-game road trip in Southern California. This weekend, the Bulldogs split the weekend with a non-conference match against San Diego State University on Friday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m., then travel down the road to University of San Diego to engage in West Coast Conference play on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
BROKEN RECORDS: The Gonzaga University women's soccer team continues to make strides towards breaking team and individual records all throughout the book. With last weekends' 4-0 victory over Loyola Marymount University and 1-0 shut out over Pepperdine University, the Bulldogs have tallied ten wins on the season, the most of any women's soccer team in Gonzaga history. The Bulldogs also established the longest win streak in program history with five-consecutive wins (9/26-10/10). Junior Annie Hawkins has moved up in the ranks, tied for second in the record books with 12 goals on the season, holding third place with 27 points this season, second with 42 career points, and is only the second Gonzaga woman in history with a hat trick under her belt. Junior Walker Loseno also moved up to tied for second with six assists on the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Haugen moved up with a 1.36 goals against average to claim the singles season record.
AGAINST THE ODDS: The Gonzaga University women's soccer team has been full of creating streaks over the 2003 season, but when it came to a 26-game losing streak in West Coast Conference play, the Bulldogs were more than happy to end it. With a 4-0 shut out over Loyola Marymount University, Gonzaga put to rest its longest WCC losing streak in program history. The Bulldogs had never beat LMU, never won a WCC game on the road, and hadn't won a WCC game in four years, but Gonzaga rose up against all odds to defeat the Lions, 4-0, on their home soil, the only Bulldog shutout of a WCC team in program history. With Gonzaga's 1-0 victory over #11 Pepperdine, the Bulldogs' marked their first victory over a ranked opponent and the first time that they defeated two WCC opponents in the same season.

SCOUTING THE AZTECS: The Gonzaga University women's soccer wraps up its four-game road trip on Friday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. as the Bulldogs travel San Diego State University for a non-conference match. The Aztecs host Gonzaga after a win and a tie over the weekend, a 1-0 victory over United States Air Force Academy and a 0-0 stalemate in double overtime against University of New Mexico. The weekend left San Diego State with a 7-8-2 record, 2-2-1, Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs return senior forward Kim Castellanos, who leads the team with six goals, one assist for 13 points. Castellanos has played in 12 of San Diego State's 16 games after earning first-team All-MWC for three straight years. The Aztecs also look towards senior goalkeeper Stephanie Pearson to lead the team. Pearson has recorded six shutout victories during the 2003 season, along with 52 saves and a 1.44 goals against average.
BULLDOGS VS. THE AZTECS: Gonzaga University and San Diego State University look to their second meeting in program history. The Aztecs lead the series 1-0 as San Diego State defeated the Bulldogs with a 4-0 victory during the 2002 season.
SCOUTING THE TOREROS: University of San Diego plays host to Gonzaga University in a West Coast Conference match after splitting the weekend in WCC play with a 2-1 defeat by Saint Mary's College and a 2-0 victory over University of San Francisco. The Toreros face the Bulldogs with a 8-6-3 record on the season, 2-3 in WCC play. San Diego returns sophomore Michelle Rowe, who tallies six goals for 12 points for the Toreros this season. Rowe continues her offensive stint after notching four goals and three assists as a freshman. The Toreros also look to senior goalkeeper Libby Bassett to lead the defense as Brewer has notched 66 saves and a 1.02 goals against average.
BULLDOGS VS. THE TOREROS: The Toreros of University of San Diego hold 10-0 record over Gonzaga University. Last season, the Bulldogs were defeated by San Diego in a 4-0 shutout.
SEEING DOUBLE: Twin sisters Annie and Sarah Hawkins remain a lethal combination for the opponents of the Gonzaga University women's soccer team as they combined three goals and two assists on the weekend. They have scored 17 of the team's 27 season goals. Sarah scored two goals in the Bulldogs' 4-0 victory over Loyola Marymount University, while Annie notched one goal and two assists, including one to her sister. Sarah also marked the assist for Gonzaga's only goal in the Bulldogs' 1-0 victory over #11 Pepperdine. The Hawkins sisters lead Gonzaga in goals, points, shots and shots on goal. Annie Hawkins has already notched 12 goals this season and tops off the statistics column with 50 shots, 28 on goal, and 27 points. Sarah Hawkins follows with five goals, 35 shots, 14 on goal as the Zags approach the end of the season.
