SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University men's tennis placed four competitors in the quarterfinal round of the Bulldog Tennis Classic on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs played host to University of Montana and Eastern Washington University in the first day of tournament play.
Reid Arthur, Brett Womack, Bryce Cooper and Drew Ernst all advanced to the quarterfinal round of the tournament. Cooper, seeded No. 2, defeated Sean Stewart of Montana (6-3, 7-5) to earn is place in the quarterfinal round.
Montana also placed well during the first day of the tournament, placing three players in the quarterfinal round. Eastern Washington was only able to advance Kevin Erickson to the quarterfinal level.
Bulldog Tristan Johnson qualified for the second round of consolation play.
The Bulldog Tennis Classic will be back in action for day two on Saturday, Oct. 4. Play begins at 9 a.m. and will run through the afternoon. Complete results will be posted on the http://www.gozags.com
