SPOKANE, Wash. - Freshman forward Tina Estrada scored two goals for Santa Clara University in the Broncos' 5-1 victory over the Gonzaga University women's soccer team. The Bulldogs ended the season with a 11-8 record (3-3 WCC), the best records for overall and conference play in program history. Santa Clara ended the regular season with a 12-3-5 (6-0-1 WCC) record to claim the West Coast Conference title.

Freshman Tiffany Roberts scored the first goal for Santa Clara at 15:17 with a header past sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Haugen. Bronco Leslie Osborne crossed the ball in to Roberts for her fourth goal of the season.

Junior Bree Horvath gave Santa Clara the two-goal advantage as she took a shot from seven yards out in the 23rd minute to claim her unassisted goal. Horvath's fifth goal of the season gave the Bronco's a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Gonzaga held off the Santa Clara offense until the 69:16 mark when junior Leslie Osborne scored her 11th goal of the season with a header from a corner kick taken by Kristi Candau.

Estrada began her scoring spree in the 77th minute as she found a shot from nine yards out from teammate Bonnie Bowman. Bowman fed the ball to Estrada again to rifle into the net from 10 yards out at 82:13.

Despite the overwhelming offensive attacks of the Broncos, senior midfielder Patty Blankenship scored her first collegiate goal in her last game on Martin Field for the Bulldogs from six yards out. Junior Annie Hawkins was credited with the assist as she passed it to an open Blankenship on the left side of the net for the final score, 5-1.

The Broncos dominated the game as they outshot Gonzaga 17-3, with 11 corner kicks to the Bulldogs' one. Haugen tallied seven saves while first half goalkeeper Julie Ryder made on save for the Broncos.

With the victory Santa Clara claimed the WCC title, effectively ending Gonzaga's hopes for a playoff berth. The Bulldogs ended the season with their best overall and WCC record in program history, setting a new five-game win streak record in the process. Gonzaga outscored its opponents 30-29 with a 1.58 goals per game average.

Annie Hawkins ended the regular season on top of the WCC charts with 13 goals, tying her for first in the Gonzaga record books for single-season goals. Hawkins also tied for second with 30 points in a single season.

Keeper Haugen also dented the records as she claimed second to herself for five shutouts on the season, outdone by her six shutouts during the 2002 season. Haugen also became the leader with a 1.48 goals against average for a single season and moved up to take third with 255 career saves.
