Mathews Named WCC Co-Player Of The Week

SPOKANE, Wash. - Junior guard Shannon Mathews was named co-Player of the Week of the West Coast Conference, it was announced today. Mathews received the recognition after guiding the Gonzaga University women's basketball team to a 3-0 record over the weekend.
The Riverside, Calif., native scored a double-double with ten points, ten assists in the Bulldogs' 68-54 victory over UC Riverside on Sunday afternoon. Mathews started the week with 12 points, four rebounds and two assists as Gonzaga defeated Boise State University, 75-54, on Wednesday evening. Mathews then scored a season-high 16 points at Portland State University with four assists and five rebounds as the Bulldogs' beat the Vikings, 69-60.
Mathews currently ranks fourth in the Gonzaga record books with 305 career assists and tied for fourth place with assistant coach Jennifer Mountain with 116 career three-pointers made.
The Bulldogs (5-5) continue their six-game homestand by hosting Seattle University on Monday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. in The Kennel.
