Women's Tennis Falls To Utah State 6-1

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis won five out of six singles and two out of three doubles matches as it defeated Gonzaga 6-1 Saturday at the Sports Academy. State improved to 4-6 on the season, while Gonzaga dropped to 5-8.
Leading the charge for the Aggies was Caroline Pollock and Lindsey Bennion. At No. 1 doubles, Bennion and Pollock defeated Jamie Bauterbaugh and Sirrah Williams 8-6. Pollock won at No. 1 singles as Jamie Buterbaugh forced a 6-7 6-3, 10-8 tie-breaker.
Freshmen Kendall Bates earned the only singles point of the day for the Bulldogs as she defeated Carolyn Larsen 6-4, 6-3 in No. 2 singles action. Bates also helped prevent a USU sweep in doubles as she and partner Katie Rock ddfeated Larsen and Haley Hawkins 8-2 in the second set of doubles.
Gonzaga continues action on the road Sunday against the Weber State Wildcats.
