Women's Golf Finishes 7th At Springlake Invite

SEBRING, Fla. - Gonzaga University improved its team score by 15 strokes on Saturday but could not move out of seventh place as they completed play at the 2003 Springlake Intercollegiate Women's Golf Tournament at Springlake Golf Resort and Country Club in Sebring, Florida. The ten team event was hosted by Northern Illinois University and was won by Florida Golf Coast University with a two-day total of 627. Gonzaga finished with a team score of 651 including a second-day total of 318.

Senior golfer Kate Siddell led the Bulldogs second day charge as she fired a 77 to climb into a tie for 10th place overall at the tournament. Siddell and teammate Kelsey Posedel each entered the day in a tie for 17th place, Posedel finished tied for 15th after a round of 79. Individual tournament honors went to Kristen Kennedy of Western New Mexico who finished with a score of 150 after back-to-back rounds of 75.

Gonzaga's quintet of golfers also included Cathy Knutson, Carrie DeGree and Erin Picht. Knutson and DeGree were separated by one shot as they finished 31st and 32nd. Picht finished the tournament in 41st.

The Bulldogs will now travel to Tampa to compete in the Snowbird Invitational at Pebble Creek Country Club as they conclude their Spring Break trip.
