West Coast Conference Announces Tennis Tournament Seeding

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's and women's tennis teams were selected as the top seeds entering this weekend's WCC Championship as voted on by the league coaches. The women's championship will be held at Pepperdine University, while the University of San Diego will host the men's event. Both tournaments begin Friday, April 11 at 9:00 am.
Last year's women's champions, Loyola Marymount, was selected as the #2 seed, while San Diego was picked third and Santa Clara was voted as the #4 seed. San Francisco was selected as the #5 seed for the second straight year, Portland was voted the #6 seed, while Saint Mary's and Gonzaga were tabbed as the #7 and #8 seeds, respectively.
On the men's side, host San Diego was voted as the #2 seed, followed by LMU, who was selected third, and USF who was picked fourth. Santa Clara was voted as the #5 seed, while Portland was selected #6, Saint Mary's #7 and Gonzaga #8 to round out this year's seedings.
The women's championship will begin April 11 at 9:00 am with #4 Santa Clara facing #5 USF. At 11:00 am, #1 Pepperdine will square off with #8 Gonzaga. #2 LMU will take on #7 Saint Mary's at 1:00 pm, while #3 San Diego will face #6 Portland at 3:00 pm to wrap up first round action.
The men's tournament will also begin at 9:00 am with #1 Pepperdine facing #8 Gonzaga, while #4 seeded USF will take on #5 Santa Clara. At 1:00 pm, #2 San Diego will take the court versus #7 Saint Mary's and #3 LMU will square off against #6 Portland.
The selections of both Pepperdine squads marks the ninth consecutive season that both Waves' teams have been voted as the top seeds entering the championship since the tournament was changed to the current team dual match format in 1995.
