MISSOULA, Mont. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team edged the University of Montana Grizzlies 3-2 during limited play in Missoula.
Kendall Bates and Sirrah Williams defeated Michaela Zima and Jonna Schwartz during the only doubles game to earn the deciding point for the Bulldogs.
The two teams split singles action as GU's Jamie Buterbaugh defeated Lindsey Torgerson 6-2, 6-1 in No. 1 play. Ashild Fjeldheim defeated Katie Rock 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 while Aaryn Volkmann defeated Katie Kohlschreiber in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Erin Cooney downed Leigh Orne 6-0, 6-3 for Montana's second point.
The Bulldogs host their first spring home match Monday when they host the Eastern Washington Eagles at 3 p.m. at the Martin Courts.
