Hayes Ties For 10th At Vandal Fall Classic

MOSCOW, Idaho - Jimmy Hayes shot a final-round 72 Saturday over the par 71, 6,663-yard University of Idaho Golf Course for a 54-hole total of 215 to tie for 10th at the Vandal Fall Classic.

Hayes led a solid Gonzaga showing that saw Stu Bell fire a 73; Matt Munroe and Souta Nozaa 74, and John Bergen a 75 as the Bulldogs came home with a final-round 293 to move into 10th in the team standings.

After round of 297 and 306 on Friday for 12th place in the 13-team field after 54 holes, the Bulldogs came back to with Saturday's 293 for a 54-hole score of 896.

Saint Mary's College, a West Coast Conference foe of the Bulldogs, captured the title with an 843, edging host Idaho by five strokes.

Graham DeLaet of Boise State University took individual medalist honors with rounds of 67-69-71 for a 6-under par 207 and a one-stroke victory over Jason Huff of Idaho and John Chirila of SMC.

Gonzaga won't get much time to rest as the Gonzaga Bulldog Invitational begins Monday at 8 a.m. at Hangman Valley Golf Course in Spokane. The 10-team field will play 54 holes - 36 on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
