Men's Tennis Goes 2-0 At EWU Invitational

CHENEY, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team went 2-0 on the weekend at the Eastern Washington University Invitational with a 6-1 win over Weber State on Sunday. The Bulldogs improved to 4-3 with the victory.
Sophomore Bryce Cooper led off the lineup in the No. 1 slot with his win over Jonathan Engelbrecht (7-6, 6-3). Junior Dru Ernst also won his match over Mathis Saberon (6-4, 6-3), followed by victories by Reid Arthur, Brett Womack and Robert Penney.
Gonzaga swept the doubles play as all three teams claimed victories. Cooper and Ernst teamed together for their 8-4 win over Engelbrecht and Spencer Marchant. Womack and Arthur teamed for an 8-5 win over Zach Rideout and Travis Covington, while Penney and Jesse Goldsmith finished out the doubles play with their win over Andrew Corlett and Daniel Abeaboeru, 9-7.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, Feb. 28 as they take on Utah State University in Bozeman, Mont.
