Men's Tennis Defeated By Whitman, 5-2

SPOKANE, Wash. - Despite two singles wins, the Gonzaga University men's tennis team lost its 14th-straight match of the season to Whitman College, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs dropped to 4-17 with the defeat.
Doubles play was controlled by Whitman with victories in all three matches. Bryce Cooper and Dru Ernst gave Gonzaga a chance as they pushed David Miller and Robbie Munday with a 9-7 effort. Whitman won the other two matches, both 8-4, for the doubles point.
Cooper made his first appearance in over a week after battling an illness to put the Bulldogs on the board with his 6-1, 6-2 victory over Steven Ly in the No. 1 spot. Brett Womack followed in suit for Gonzaga's second point with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Phalkun Mam. However, the Bulldogs were defeated in the remaining four matches with only Jesse Goldsmith taking his match to three sets. Goldsmith was defeated in the No. 6 spot by Dane Miller after a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 effort.
Gonzaga remains on its home court as the Bulldogs host Eastern Washington University on Wednesday, April 14 at 3 p.m.
