Gonzaga Dominates Last Day At Whitworth Fall CLassic

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team dominated the final day of play at the Whitworth Fall Classic Sunday as GU claimed victory in both doubles and singles play.
In the semifinals round of singles competition junior Cooper Fratt defeated unattached Jones 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 and sophomore Brett Womack defeated Eastern Washington University's Davis in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to move onto the finals round.
The final round of singles between the two Bulldogs will be played at a future date.
In doubles action the team of Cooper/Womack handed a fellow GU tandem of Arthur/Azuma a loss in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Gonzaga's other tandem competing in doubles action lost to unattached Daley/Jones 6-3, 6-4.
The Zags then claimed the doubles championship in the finals as Cooper/Womack defeated Jones/Daley in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
"This was a great weekend for us," said Head Coach John Gant. "We got in a lot of tennis that will help us in the upcoming events."
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday as they open play in the Bulldog Classic at Gonzaga University.
