Volleyball Swept By Hot Hitting LMU

LOS ANGELES - The Gonzaga University offense was held in check for the second consecutive match as the Bulldogs volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Loyola Marymount University (14-6, 2-4 WCC) on Friday night. LMU won the match 30-25, 30-25, 30-15 to win their 25th straight match against Gonzaga (10-13, 2-4 WCC).
Setter Heather Dunn was the Bulldogs offensive bright spot finishing with 8 kills and .545 attack percentage. Dunn also passed out 19 assists as Gonzaga combined for only 33 team kills in the three game defeat. Sophomore Becky Jones also reached 8 kills while leading the team with 10 digs. GU was limited to only a .096 team attack percentage for the match including a negative figure in the game three loss.
Loyola Marymount's offense proved to be quite the opposite as the Lions hit over .300 in all three games for a match percentage of .396. LMU was led by Krista Houseman with 12 kills and Emily Day with 10. Houseman connected for a .625 hitting clip as LMU finished with 55 team kills. Heather Hughes passed out 24 assists as the Lions used two setters during the contest. Hughes also had six blocks, five of them block assists. Katie Glomb was the team leader with 11 digs.
Gonzaga continues its two-game WCC swing through the Los Angeles area with a Saturday night match at Pepperdine University. Gonzaga is currently in the midst of a four-match road trip that ends next Saturday afternoon at the University of Portland.
