Volleyball Drops Second Straight WCC Match

SAN DIEGO - Gonzaga University dropped its second straight West Coast Conference match as the Bulldogs (9-10, 1-2 WCC) were overmatched by No. 15 University of San Diego on Saturday night. The Toreros (13-2, 3-1 WCC) swept the match in three games 30-11, 30-24, 30-19.
Gonzaga was held to just 24 team kills with Briawna Mueller leading the Bulldogs with 8 kills. GU connected for only a .033 attack percentage on the night with Heather Dunn passing out 21 assists for the Bulldogs 24 kills.
San Diego's offense was quite the opposite of the Bulldogs as USD hammered out 50 kills with a .371 attack percentage. Christie Dawson led the Toreros with 13 kills while Moira McCarthy added 10.
For the second night in a row Gonzaga also surrendered double digit service aces as USD dropped in 10. Jackie Bernardin had four of USD aces. Frances Garcia and Jessica Herrera each had one ace for Gonzaga.
Gonzaga will return to action next Friday and Saturday night when the Bulldogs host the University of San Francisco and Saint Mary's College in WCC action. All fans will be admitted to each match for only $1 as the Bulldogs will have Fan Appreciation for both weekend matches.
