Women's Basketball Season Tickets Surpass 1,000

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University athletic department announced that season ticket sales for the Bulldogs women's basketball team recently surpassed the 1,000 season ticket holder mark as the teams competes in year two in the McCarthey Athletic Center. As of December 1, season tickets for the women's basketball stand at 1,112 with the Bulldogs next home game on Sunday, Dec. 18 against the University of Montana. Long time GU women's hoops supporter Gary Blazek was the first to buy women's season tickets when they went on sale prior to last season while Ron Soliday of Reardon, Wash., was the 1,000 season ticket holder.
"It's great to see the type of support our team has been receiving from the Spokane community," stated Bulldogs head coach Kelly Graves. "The entire athletic department has done a great job of marketing our team over the last two seasons and I think we can continue to grow support for our program to make it one of best environments in women's college basketball."
Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth reiterated those comments by stating, "The women's coaching staff has put together a great team for Spokane basketball fans to come support. We have only been selling season tickets for the women for two seasons and to reach more than a 1,000 season tickets in just our second year is a testament to hard work our entire department has put into promoting this program."
Season tickets are available for just $50 and can be purchased at the McCarthey Athletic Center Box Office during normal business hours or by calling (509) 323-6000. Gonzaga ranked 67th in the NCAA last season with 1,817 fans per game including a record setting 5,825 fans when the Bulldogs defeated the University of Portland in the regular season finale. Gonzaga has played only one game at home this season with 1,843 people watching the Bulldogs knock off Eastern Washington University.
