Men's Tennis Falls On First Day Of WCC's

MALIBU, Calif. - - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team fell in it's first match of the West Coast Conference Championship 4-0 to top-seeded and defending national champion Pepperdine University on Friday. The three-day event is being hosted by the University of San Diego in San Diego.
Gonzaga drops to 11-14 for the season, while Pepperdine improves to 20-7.
The Bulldogs were unable to overcome the nationally-ranked Waves, dropping four singles matches in straight sets. Once the winner of the match is determined, the remaining matches are not finished. Thus, the reason that No. 5 and 6 singles results were not reported.
The match opened with singles play because of the threat of rain in the San Diego area.
The loss drops the Zags into the back draw of the bracket. Gonzaga will fourth-seeded University of Portland at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The match will be held on the campus of San Diego State University.
