Men's Tennis Continues Play At ITA Regionals

BERKLEY, Calif. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team continued play at the 2009 Wilson ITA Northwest Men's Regional Saturday. The Bulldogs had the veteran pairing of Roman Dojcak and Scott Sullivan advance to the second round of the Doubles bracket.
Dojcak and Sullivan opened doubles play with a 9-7 first round victory over Sherif Hamdy and Yousef El Bouskouri of Saint Mary's to move on to the second round later in the afternoon. The Zags top pairing later dropped their second round match to a strong doubles team from the University of Washington 8-3.
In singles play, a number of Zags played in consolation bracket matches. Levin Guillermo, playing in the second round after receiving a first round bye, played well but suffered a three-set defeat to Marco Verdasco out of the University of Oregon 6-7(4), 7-5, 1-0. Scott Sullivan also played well in his consolation match, but also came up short, dropping a match to Nick Buckley of Santa Clara 7-5, 6-3.
ITA Regional play continues Sunday.
