Bulldogs Wrap Up Road Trip With Another Win

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team posted a 7-0 sweep of Seattle University in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs improved their overall record to 8-5 after going 3-2 in its five-match road trip.
Gonzaga once again played well in its doubles matches, just as has all season long, sweeping all three matches to earn the day's first point. The pairing of senior Aglaya Kokurina and Kristina Zauere led the way for the Zags, posting their team-best sixth win of the season at number one doubles.
In singles play, Kokurina rebounded from a 6-2 first set loss with back-to-back 6-1 wins in the final two sets to pick up the win at number one singles. Sophomore Rika Mehndiratta later won at number two singles to record her seventh win out of her last eight matches. Zauere also won at number three singles to improve here team-best record to 11-2.
Sophomores Clare Dodge and Danielle Farmer each posted wins at number four and number five singles, respectively and freshman Madeline Edson-White finished off GU's perfect day with a 6-0 6-0 win at number six singles.
"I was very proud of how we played today," stated head coach D.J. Gurule. "Everybody played with great focus and intensity throughout the day. It was good to close out the road trip with a win."
In two weeks the Bulldogs will head to Moraga, Calif. to matchup against West Coast Conference foes University of Portland Mar. 27, Loyola Marymount University Mar. 28 and Saint Mary's College Mar. 29.
