RENO, Nev. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team had three players post wins in the singles matches but still came up one point short, dropping a 4-3 non-conference decision to the University of Montana in Reno, Nev. Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (5-12) rallied back from an early deficit to take three of the five singles matches and tie the match at 3-3 with one match to go. Redshirt-sophomore Zach Peach played an exciting number six singles match, the final match of the day, taking the first set 6-3 before Montana's David Cysneiros came back to take the second set 6-3. The two players battled to claim the final set that would be the match clincher for either team. Cysneiros eventually held of Peach to claim the victory and clinch the match for the Grizzlies.
Gonzaga played solid tennis all afternoon as junior Roman Dojcak posted a win at number two singles, freshman Jake Davis won at number four singles for the second straight day and fellow classmate Scott Sullivan won his number five singles match for the Zags. The win by Davis was his team-leading ninth of the season.
The Zags close out the weekend with a match against the University of California - Davis Sunday.
