SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team swept its non-conference match against Lewis & Clark State College 7-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs improved to 5-3 with their second perfect match of the season, the first coming against Portland State University Feb. 22. After sweeping the three doubles matches, the Zags closed out their four-match homestand by sweeping all six of the singles matches.
Sophomores Rika Mehndiratta and Danielle Famer each needed a third set to win their number one and number four singles matches, respectively. Mehndiratta's win was her second in as many chances while playing at No. 1 singles and freshman Kristina Zauere improved her overall record to a team-best 7-1 including 3-0 in No. 2 singles.
"We came out focused and played very well today," said head coach D.J. Gurule. "I was very pleased with our effort today."
Next up for the Zags is a trip to Palm Springs, Calif. for matchups against Sacred Heart University, San Jose State University and the University of Toledo Mar. 10, 12-13.
