Zags Fall In First-Round Match At WCC Championships

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to top-seeded Pepperdine University in its first round match at the West Coast Conference Championships Friday morning.
The Bulldogs (11-12) played well in the doubles matches but saw Pepperdine come away with the point after they won the first two matches played. Rika Mehndiratta and Danielle Farmer battled in their No. two doubles match but fell 8-5.
In singles play Pepperdine won the first three matches to clinch the 4-0 victory over the Zags. Mehndiratta had the best showing for the Bulldogs, dropping her No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-3. Kristina Zauere lost 6-1, 6-2 in No. three singles and Clare Dodge lost her No. four singles match.
Gonzaga will face Loyola Marymount University 8:00 a.m. Saturday.
