Parkhurst Advances In Arizona Amateur Championship

MARICOPA, Ariz. - Gonzaga University incoming freshman golfer Kevin Parkhurst has advanced to the round of 32 of the 85th Arizona Amateur Championship.

Parkhurst defeated Scott Berren of Phoenix 4 and 3 in Wednesday's match play at Southern Dunes Golf Club which is playing to par 72 and 7,307 yards. Parkhurst, from Vail, shot rounds of 70-71 for a 141 in the 36-hole qualifying play to tie for 12th and advance to match play. Berren qualified with identical rounds of 73 for a 36-hole score of 147.

Parkhurst will face Kevin Walters of Phoenix in Thursday's round of 32. Walters defeated Trey Herring 1 up to advance.
