Ismath, Eischen Post Doubles Win At ITA Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team continued play at the 2010 ITA Northwest Men's Regional Saturday. The Bulldogs had the pairing of senior Kevin Eischen and freshman Muzeen Ismath advance to the doubles second round.
Eischen and Ismath opened doubles play with a 8-6 first round victory over UC Davis' Jack Horowitz and Josh Albert to move on to the second round later in the afternoon. The two Bulldogs later dropped their second round match to the University of Washington's Jeevan Nedunchezhivan and Kyle McMorrow, the No. 3 seed.
Juniors Scott Sullivan and Zhia Hwa Chong dropped their opening round match to Alec Haley and Connor Coates of UC Davis 9-8 (4). Junior Jake Davis and sophomore Levin Guillermo were also eliminated in the first round, losing to Geoff Hernandez and Michal HuKwo out of West Coast Conference rival University of Portland 8-3.
In the singles main bracket, Chong was eliminated in the round of 32 by No. 3-seed Nedunchezhivan 6-1, 6-1. In the first round of the consolation bracket, Muzeen suffered a two-set defeat to Santa Clara University's Keith Kamono 6-3, 6-2. Sullivan played well in the first round, but also came up short, dropping match to Maxime Olivan of Saint Mary's College 6-4, 7-5.
