Sullivan Highlights Day One At PNW Intercollegiates

SEATTLE, Wash. - Junior Scott Sullivan of the Gonzaga University men's tennis team posted a first round victory for the Bulldogs in the first day of the PNW Intercollegiates held on the campus of the University of Washington Friday.
In the Gold Draw, Sullivan posted a victory over the University of Idaho's Kevin Lee 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the round of 16. Sullivan will face Justin Guay of West Coast Conference foe University of Portland Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
In the same draw, freshman Pablo Mosquera Pérez battled a tough opening round match but he dropped a three set decision to Rantan Gill of the Pilots 1-6, 6-0, 6-2. Also in the draw junior Jake Davis was no match for Seattle University's Matt Overland, falling 6-2, 6-3.
In the Purple Draw, two Bulldogs lost their opening round match in three sets. Junior Zhia Hwa Chong lost to Stefan Simikic of Boise State University 0-6, 6-3, 6-3 while sophomore Levin Guillermo dropped his match 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-1 to Robin Cambier of the University of Oregon.
The Bulldogs struggled in doubles play Friday. In the Purple Draw, Davis and senior Kevin Eischen lost their opening round match to top seed Kyle McMorrow and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan of the Huskies 8-1 while Chong and Sullivan fell to Seattle University's Jason Bediones and Simon Meske 8-3.
After receiving an opening round bye in the Gold Draw, the team of Guillermo and Mosquera Pérez will take on Max Manthou and Matt Stith of the Huskies Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Gonzaga continues play at the PNW Intercollegiates Saturday.
