SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University women's basketball junior Kayla Standish has been named West Coast Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday.
The forward helped the Bulldogs defeat Washington State University for the second time in nearly two weeks and improve their record to 7-3 on the season. Standish was 10-of-14 (71.4%) from the floor and sank both free throw attempts for a season-high 22 points; only her second career 20-plus point performance and three points shy of tying her career high. She also grabbed seven rebounds, blocked four shots, made two steals, dished out two assists and had no turnovers in 26 minutes of action.
This is Standish's first career Player of the Week honor and the third Bulldog accolade of the season.
Also nominated this week were Natalie Day of the University of Portland and Emily Hatch of the University of San Diego.
