Farmer and Zauere Lead Bulldogs To Third Straight Win

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team earned its third consecutive victory with a 6-1 win over the University of Northern Colorado at the Spokane Racquet Club Friday.
Kristina Zauere paced the Bulldogs (7-2) with a three-set win at No. 2 singles, claming her team-leading seventh win of the season. The Zags also had Danielle Farmer win at No. 3, Prue Teitzel win at No. 4, Sophie Lantta win at No. 5 and Jackie Tabb record a victory at No. 6 singles.
Gonzaga opened the match by claiming two of the three doubles matches to earn the match's first point. The No. 2 doubles team of Dodge and Zauere won their team-leading seventh match of the season and the No. 3 pairing of Tabb and Lantta also won to give GU the early advantage.
"I thought everybody played very well tonight. I was very impressed with Danielle's play tonight, she bounced back from a tough loss in doubles to really set the tone for us in singles," stated head coach D.J. Gurule. "Sophie and Jackie are playing great tennis for us right now. We have a little break before our next match so we are looking forward to catching up on our studies and getting healthy."
The Bulldogs will enjoy a long break off before heading to California's bay area to face University of San Francisco Mar. 7, Santa Clara University Mar. 9 and UC Santa Cruz Mar. 10.
