Bulldogs Travel To San Diego For WCC Tennis Championships

SPOKANE, Wash. - Senior Roman Dojcak leads the Gonzaga University men's tennis team into the West Coast Conference Championships held at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. this weekend.
The No. 8 seeded Bulldogs (7-12) will play top seeded and No. 22 ranked Pepperdine University (13-10) in Friday's first round beginning at 8 a.m. The Zags will then face the winner/loser of the No. 4 seed Loyola Marymount University/No. 5 seed University of San Francisco match at either 8 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Gonzaga comes into the weekend winners in two of their last three matches led by two-time All-WCC honorable mention selection Dojcak who paces the Zags with 11 wins. The Bulldogs also have pair of underclassman in sophomore Scott Sullivan and freshman Levin Guillermo who each come into the weekend with nine victories.
Dojcak and Sullivan have also paired up to post a team-best 10 doubles wins this season and will take a four-match winning streak into the WCC Championships.
"We are coming into the this weekend with some positive momentum after playing very well the final two weekends of the regular season," stated head coach Peter MacDonald. "We had a couple guys close out the regular season playing some very good tennis and I was very happy to see how well Roman and Scott were playing in their doubles matches down the stretch. We will look to continue playing solid tennis and see what happens this weekend."
