Chong Posts Singles Win But Zags Fall To Oregon

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team dropped its home opener 6-1 to the University of Oregon in a non-conference match Sunday at the Spokane Racquet Club.
The Zags (1-2) were led by junior Zhia Hwa Chong who recorded 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. Juniors Scott Sullivan and Tyler Campbell both won the first set in their matches at the No. 3 and 6 spots, respectively, but couldn't secure the match win.
Oregon (2-0) swept all three of the doubles matches to claim the early point.
The Bulldogs return to action Jan. 28 against Lewis-Clark State College at the Spokane Racquet Club at 6 p.m.
