Bulldogs Impressive In Sweep Over Occidental

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team posted an impressive 9-0 victory over Occidental College Tuesday.
The Zags (4-8) cruised through all three doubles matches and all singles matches for the first time this season. The Bulldogs No. 3 doubles team of senior Kevin Eischen and sophomore Levin Guillermo posted the most dominating performance with an 8-0 victory over Rodrigo Bandeira and Kevin Siebs. At the No. 1 spot, juniors Zhia Hwa Chong and Scott Sullivan defeated Stephen Perkins and Spencer Choy 8-5 to earn their 13th doubles win of the season together.
In singles play, Guillermo posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 position to earn his fifth-straight singles win and his 10th of the year. Eischen dominated at the No. 2 spot to snap a seven-match losing skid, Chong also cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles to earn his team-leading 12th singles win of the year.
Junior Jake Davis and Sullivan each earned their sixth win of the season posting victories at the Nos. 4 and 6 singles, respectively, while freshman Muzeen Ismath earned his fourth at the No. 5 spot.
The Bulldogs four-match tour in southern California continues Thursday when the Bulldogs will take on UC Riverside at 2 p.m.
