Bulldogs Rally To Win Regular Season Finale

MOSCOW, Idaho - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team played to a come-from-behind 4-3 win over the University of Idaho Saturday in the Bulldogs regular season finale. The Bulldogs finish the regular-season 10-10.
Trailing 2-3 with two singles matches remaining, Jackie Tabb tied the match and also extended her winning streak to six with a 7-6, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles. Britta Stime bested Alejandra Lozano 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 6 position to secure the match for the Bulldogs.
Also in singles, Rika Mehndiratta and Prue Teitzel each earned their team-leading 14th win of the season. Mehndiratta beat Victoria Lozano 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 position and Teitzel defeated Lauren Simpson 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot.
In doubles play, all three courts each finished with 8-5 decisions. Clare Dodge and Kristina Zauere picked up a win at the No. 2 spot but the Vandals won the other two matches to secure the point.
"This was a complete team win," Bulldogs head coach D.J. Gurule said. "I can't express how proud I am of this team. They battled all day and wouldn't give up. It is a great way to end our regular season. We will now have a little time off to get healthy before conference."
The Bulldogs will head to San Diego, Calif., for the West Coast Conference Championships April 20-23.
