GONZAGA PLAYS AT SEATTLE FRIDAY THEN HOSTS MONTANA SUNDAY: The Gonzaga University women's soccer team plays at Seattle University Friday before hosting the University of Montana Sunday. The Bulldogs (5-4-0) face the Redhawks (8-3-0) at Championship Field starting at 4 p.m. Gonzaga then hosts the Grizzlies (3-6-1) at Gonzaga Soccer Field Sunday at 1 p.m.

Bring a Buddy Day - Spokane mentor groups are invited to take advantage of the Bring a Buddy Pack which includes 1 adult & 1 youth ticket, 2 hot dogs, and 2 sodas for only $10. The Bring A Buddy Pack will be available for purchase at the ticket booth on the day of the match.
FREE Clinic - Kids 12 & under are invited to join the Zags on the field after the match for a FREE 30-minute. The Zags will also take the time to sign autographs after the clinic.
ABOUT THE SEATTLE REDHAWKS: Seattle University women's soccer enters into its contest with Gonzaga University at 8-3 and has won its last four-matches. Two of the Redhawk's three losses were to opponents that the Bulldogs have also played. Seattle dropped a 1-0 decision at Washington State University and fell 3-1 at the University of Washington. GU also fell to Washington State, 2-1 in double-overtime, and dropped a 3-1 decision to Washington. Seattle's best win thus far this season is a 2-0 victory over then-No. 8 University of Portland. Stephanie Verdoia leads the team with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Redhawk keeper Madison Goverde has logged 995:02 minutes and has allowed 10 goals for a 0.90 goals against average.
ABOUT THE MONTANA GRIZZLIES: The University of Montana women's soccer currently holds a 3-6-1 overall record. The Grizzlies will host Eastern Washington University Friday before playing at Gonzaga University Sunday. After starting off the season 3-0, Montana has gone 0-6-1 in its last seven matches. The Griz and Bulldogs have two common opponents thus far this season - Boise State University and the University of Idaho Montana played Boise State twice, earning a 4-3 and 2-1 victory, both coming in double-overtime. Gonzaga defeated the Broncos 1-0. The Grizzlies lost to Idaho 3-2, while the Bulldogs defeated the Vandals 3-0 in their last match. Montana is led by both Erin Craig and India Watne. Craig has scored a team-leading nine goals, which also is tied for 19th in the NCAA, and tallied one assist for 19 points. Watne has scored three goals and notched a team-leading seven assists. Her seven assists are tied for eighth in the NCAA.
ONE ASSIST AWAY FROM THE SCHOOL RECORD: Gonzaga University women's soccer senior Sarah Rhodes is one assist away from becoming the school's all-time assist leader. Rhodes, who has tallied 15 assists in her career, is currently tied for first with Sarah Streufert, who had 15 assists from 1997-00. Rhodes came into this season with 11 assists and has assisted on four this season.
RHODES MOVING UP IN CAREER RECORD BOOK: Gonzaga University women's soccer senior Sarah Rhodes had scored three goals and notched four assists this season for a team-leading 10 points. She has now scored 15 career goals which ranks her fifth on the all-time Gonzaga goals list. Rhodes' career assist total sits at 15 which has her tied for first with Sara Streufert, who notched 15 assists from 1997-00. Overall, she has collected 43 total points, tying her for fourth on the all-time GU points list with Nanda McCormick.
CRICKET HAS A FOOT IN TWO OF THREE GOALS VERSUS IDAHO: Gonzaga University women's soccer freshman Harber Cricket had a hand in two of the Bulldogs three goals in their 3-0 shutout over the University of Idaho, Sept. 23. Harber put the Bulldogs up 1-0 at the 12:04 mark after she gathered a loose ball in the box and easily placed it passed Vandal goalkeeper Caroline Towles; for her first goal of her collegiate career. A little over five minutes later, Gonzaga scored its second goal with Harber getting credited with the assist. Harber's free kick from just inside half field found sophomore midfielder Ali Ohashi who was there to score her second goal in as many games.
HUTCHINS RETURNS TO THE LINEUP WITH A BANG: Gonzaga University women's soccer junior Emily Hutchins returned to the lineup against Washington State University after missing four matches due to an injury. Her presence was felt immediately as she scored a goal 28 minutes in to give GU a 1-0 advantage. With a foul called 30 yards out, senior midfield Sarah Rhodes lifted a ball to the back side of the goal which found the head of classmate Emma Dolcetti. Dolcetti headed the ball back towards the left side of the goal to the waiting Hutchins who headed home her first goal of the season and her seventh career at the 27:27 mark of the first half.
DOLCETTI RETURNS TO SQUAD AND BOLSTERS OFFENSE: Gonzaga University redshirt junior Emma Dolcetti, who returned to the Zags lineup this season after a season-ending injury in the first match of the 2010 campaign, has scored a team-tying high three goals this season. Her three goals came in a two-match spurt. Dolcetti had the match-winner in GU's 1-0 victory over Weber State University Sept. 2. She then tallied two goals, including the match-winner again, in the Zags 4-0 victory at Eastern Washington University, Sept. 10 She scored the first goal in the 10th minute for the match-winner. Dolcetti then scored a perfectly-timed header off Sarah Rhodes corner kick to all but put the match away and give Gonzaga 3-0 lead in 52nd minute.
NEWCOMERS HOOK UP FOR FIRST GOAL OF SEASON: Gonzaga University women's soccer freshmen Tori Lee and Katey Pennington each had a first in a Bulldog uniform during the opening weekend of the 2011 season. Pennington, a defender from Boise, Idaho, and Lee, a midfielder from Kirkland, Wash., combined for the Bulldogs first goal, coming in their 5-1 setback to No. 24 University of Illinois, Aug. 19. The play started with GU's first corner kick of the final half. Illinois wasn't able to clear the corner taken by Lee and freshman Katey Pennington neatly gathered the loose ball and found the head of Lee, who had made her way back towards goal.
COACHES TAB ZAGS TIE FOR EIGHTH: The West Coast Conference coaches have tabbed Gonzaga University women's soccer to finish tied for eighth with the University of San Francisco this season. Both teams received 13 points in the voting process. Even with the addition of national powerhouse BYU, the coaches still believe University of Portland is the team to beat, receiving six first place votes and collecting 61 points. Santa Clara University (53 points and two first place votes) and BYU (53 points and one first place vote) were picked as the runner-ups in the league. Rounding out the rest of the league is the University of San Diego (47 points), Loyola Marymount University (33 points), Pepperdine University (31 points), Saint Mary's College (20 points), Gonzaga and San Francisco.
GEERDTS OUT FOR THE YEAR: Gonzaga University will be without sophomore forward Cassie Geerdts this season, as she suffered a leg injury during training camp. Geerdts was a key player to the Bulldogs last season, scoring three goals and leading the team with seven assists for a total of 13 points.
