Bulldogs In Seattle For PNW Tournament

THIS WEEKEND: The Gonzaga University men's tennis team wraps up its fall season this weekend as the team travels to Seattle, Wash., for the PNW Intercollegiate tournament hosted by the University of Washington. The tournament is divided into two draws for both singles and doubles. Play begins Friday at 8 a.m. on the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the Washington campus.
TEAMS AT THE PNW INTERCOLLEGIATE: Besides Gonzaga University, the University of Oregon, Eastern Washington University, the University of Idaho, Portland State University, the University of Portland, Seattle University, Boise State University and host University of Washington will participate in this weekend's PNW Intercollegiate in Seattle, Wash.
HEAD COACH PETER MACDONALD'S THOUGHTS ON THE PNW INTERCOLLEGIATE: "We have had a very successful fall season both individually and as a team. We have a lot of guys in action this weekend and we will have an opportunity to close the fall strong. This is just another chance for us to improve our game for the spring."
ZAGS PLAYING IN SINGLES: The PNW Intercollegiate tournament is broken into two singles draws. In the Pacific draw the Gonzaga University men's tennis team will have sophomore Alvaro Nazal and senior Olivier Jamin in action. Nazal will play as the No. 4 seed in the draw. The Northwest draw will feature sophomore Vladimir Mijatovic, junior Pablo Mosquera Pérez and freshman Vicente Varas.
BULLDOGS DOUBLES IN SEATTLE: Much like singles play, there will be two doubles draws at the PNW Intercollegiate tournament in Seattle, Wash. Pairing up for the Zags in Pacific draw will be freshmen Vicente Varas and Hayden Smith. In the Northwest draw the Bulldogs will have the duos of Pablo Mosquera Pérez and Alvaro Nazal, and Olivier Jamin and Vladimir Mijatovic competing.
NAZAL NAMED WCC SEPTEMBER PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Gonzaga University sophomore Alvaro Nazal was named West Coast Conference Player of the Month for September. Nazal had a solid month by capturing the Eastern Washington University Classic red flight title. The Santiago, Chile, native won four matches to be crowned winner. The award was the second time Nazal has earned the honor; he was named the 2011 September Player of the Month.
