Zags Finish Regular-Season With Win Over Lewis-Clark State

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team closed out the regular-season on a winning note Sunday. The Bulldogs took two wins in doubles play followed by earning four singles victories to beat Lewis-Clark State College 5-2 at the Spokane Racquet Club.
The senior pairing of Zhia Hwa Chong and Scott Sullivan got back on the winning track with an 8-5 win over Anders Tischer and Benjamin Robert at No. 1 doubles. The Bulldogs clinched the doubles point on court three when Pablo Mosquera Pérez and Jack Schoebel picked up an 8-3 over Tyler Oram and Sam Tozer in their first doubles match together on the year.
In singles play, Alvaro Nazal earned his 21st win of the season after earning a pair of 6-1 set victories over Tischer on court one, Olivier Jamin collected his 15th win with back-to-back 6-2 set wins over Ivan Krijanto on court two and Chong defeated Tozer 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot. Scott Sullivan picked up the Bulldogs fifth point and his team-leading 23rd win of the season after defeating Robert 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
After finishing the regular-season 9-12 overall and 1-7 in West Coast Conference play, the Bulldogs will now turn their attention to the WCC Championships in San Diego, Calif., April 25-28. The tournament seeding will be announced at a later date.
