SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Senior Peter Gullickson shot a final round 1-over par 73 Tuesday to lead the Bulldogs on the final day of the Bill Cullum Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge at Wood Ranch Golf Course. The Bulldogs shot a final-round 299 and slipped from tied for 11th after the second round to 14th with a 54-hole score of 886 (289-298-299). "We just didn't score well as a team today, with two 76s and no rounds under par," explained Gonzaga head coach Robert Gray. "While we didn't score well today, it was the final holes of the second round yesterday that hurt us most. That finish is the difference between where we finished and a top 5 finish."
Junior James Fahy shot a final round 2-over par 74 over the 6,819 yard, par 72 layout and finished at 218 (69-75-74) to lead the Bulldogs and tie for 29th. Fahy closed out the fall with four top-30 finishes in four events. Sophomore Sean Walsh faltered a bit on the final 18 holes. After posting back-to-back even par scores, Walsh carded a 4-over par 76 to end the invitational with a 54-hole score of 220 (72-72-76). Walsh tied for 35th. Gullickson coupled his Tuesday's 73 with rounds of 73 and 75 for a 54-hole score of 221 and junior Erik Krzyzanowski shot a 76 for a final 230 (76-78-76). Cal State Fullerton shot a final round 281 to move from third and overtake the University of San Diego for the team title. Fullerton grabbed a one-stroke victory over the Toreros with a 3-round score of 849 (288-280-281). Long Beach State University's Daniel Chian earned held on for the individual title at 10-under par 206 for a one-shot victory over Arizona State's Jon Rahm and Cal State Fullerton's Mark Anguiano. The invitational ended the fall season for the Bulldogs and Gray is looking foward to the break. "Our finish has hurt us all season and we'll figure it out before we start our spring schedule in February," stated Gray. "The bulk of our season is in the spring and we'll put this fall behind us but not before learning everything we can from it. Adversity is a part of everything in life but a great thing to learn from." 14 Gonzaga 289 298 299 886 T29 James Fahy (1) 69 75 74 218 T35 Sean Walsh (2) 72 72 76 220 T43 Peter Gullickson (3) 73 75 73 221 T76 Erik Krzyzanowski (5) 76 78 76 230
