Men's Tennis Falls To #39 BYU

SPOKANE, Wash. - In its last home match of the season, Gonzaga University men's tennis dropped 7-0 to 39th-ranked BYU Saturday at the Spokane Racquet Club.
The Bulldogs fall to 7-12 overall and 0-6 in the West Coast Conference.
Sophomore Alvaro Nazal battled ITA's 42nd-ranked Patrick Kawka to three sets in the No. 1 singles position but came up just shy. Kawka won 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.
Vladimir Mijatovic also put on a battle in the No. 4 position. Mijatovic went toe-to-toe with Keaton Cullimore but came up short 7-6, 7-5.
Gonzaga picked up a victory in doubles. In No. 3, Nazal and Pablo Mosquera Pérez ousted Cullimore and John Pearce 8-5. With the win, the GU tandem is a team-best 11-5 this spring.
The Zags wrap up the regular-season and WCC play next weekend as the team travels to Santa Clara University Friday and University of San Francisco Saturday. WCC Champions begin Apr. 24.
