
WBB Shoots Season-Best in Win

LARAMIE, Wyo. - In the first half, Gonzaga women's basketball dominated inside. In the second half, it controlled the outside. It was a complete performance by the Zags in a 70-56 road win at Wyoming Friday.
In the opening half, the Bulldogs (6-3) outscored Wyoming 18-6 in the paint, before making six of their seven three-point attempts in the second half. Gonzaga made a season-best 55.1 percent of its shots from the field. And, the Zags held Wyoming to 56 points, the second lowest total for a GU opponent this season. Gonzaga also had a 37-20 advantage in rebounds.
"I'm really proud of our team tonight," Gonzaga Head Coach Lisa Fortier said. "We executed the offense and got great shots. It's never easy to play (Wyoming) and they tested us defensively. We stuck together on the defensive end tonight as well."
The Cowgirls were limited to 49 attempts from the field, which was a season-low for a Gonzaga opponent. The Bulldogs entered the game as one of the nation's best in three-point defense, and held Wyoming to 4-of-18 (22.2 percent) from outside-the-arc.
Sunny Greinacher moved closer to becoming the 20th member of the 1,000-point club at Gonzaga. The senior made eight of her 11 shots from the field and finished with a team-high 18 points. She is now 23 points away from 1,000 in her career. Greinacher also led the team with four assists Friday, matching her career-high.
Freshman Emma Wolfram added 13 points, with nine coming in the first half. Elle Tinkle made 3-of-4 from three-point range and finished with 11 points.
After a close start, the Zags slowly began to pull away and led 30-22 at halftime. GU broke open the game at the beginning of the second half. Gonzaga outscored the Cowgirls, 23-6, through the first 10 minutes of the second half. Wyoming missed 10 of its first 11 shots of the second half, including its first seven.
Wyoming (5-4) was led by Marquelle Dent's game-high 19 points. She chipped in six assists and six steals. Kayla Woodward added 14 points, while Kaitlyn Mileto scored 12.
